Rural and remote communities in Africa are continuing to experience the toughest of conditions in our continent, including drought, bushfires, floods, mice plagues, economic downturn, and the post-COVID-19 pandemic effects. The resilience of rural people is remarkable; however, we understand that daily pressures and additional challenges continue to impact their lives. Our chaplains provide care and support to people in rural and remote Africa, who, at times, feel socially and geographically isolated. Rural and remote chaplains seek to bring hope and support to people challenged with economic, environmental, emotional and/or social pressures. Rural chaplaincy is a Jesus-centred initiative and a small team of pastoral evangelists form the backbone of the weekly work, with others supplementing the team for particular events as required.
